Pixies, Cupcakes, Monsters & Maidens...

January 15th finally came & it was time to send in my sketchbook for the Art House Co-op/Brooklyn Art Library's Sketchbook Project!

It took me a while to figure out what exactly I was going to do with my book, and then to shut off the logic and let my creative side take over. So in keeping with my original concept - No research, No rules, No sources - only PURE IMAGINATION - I just let go and made it up as I went along...

Something really exciting happened - I had FUN! Once I was able to turn off the years of schooling and "unlearn what I had learned" the book took shape.

My early influences like Monty Python, Jon Waters, and Tim Burton seem to come out in my loose story arc and new stylized style. In many ways, this piece seems to be more "me" than a lot of other work I've done.

I hope everyone can make it out to The Tour. Starting at the Brooklyn Art Museum on February 19th and traveling the U.S. until the end of July... My sketchbook is going places!

As my friends from across the pond would say -

and now for something completely different

I love the concept of a Sketchbook tour. Love to see more of the work. Hopefully schools will bring students to see the exhibits... inspiring more and more creative expression!
